Malaysian Defence Industry Council was established under the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) in August 1999 to ensure development of the Local Defence Industry. With the approval of the Cabinet, in April 2010, this Council was upgraded as the Malaysian Defence Industry Council, Enforcement and Safety (MIDES). This Council is chaired by the Minister of Defence.
MIDES members consist of representatives from MINDEF, the three services of the Armed Forces, Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Ministry of Finance (MOF), Ministry of Internal Affairs and representatives from the local Defence Industry companies.
Among others the objective of MIDES is to provide guidance on the development of our Local Defence Industry, discussing related issues and challenges and to establish a society based companies of the Defence Industry Enforcement and Safety in Malaysia.
AAT is a member of MIDES and regularly participated in relevant workshops and activities organized by the Council. This is primarily to ensure that we are updated on progress and plans of the Local Defence Industry.
AAT will continue to be a member of MIDES for the purpose of maintaining our awareness on development and progress of our Malaysian Local Defence Industry. At the same time we will be able to disseminate informations related to the latest development in CNS/ATM technology and also to promote AAT capabilities to MINDEF.
